Why do we experience fear when climbing? Because falling is one of the two innate human fears. Why do we get so stressed about climbing our project? Because climbing is significant to us. It all makes sense. Strong emotions can arise when we do what we love and care about. This is even more true if that activity involves fighting against gravity, with a possibility of a few meters falling into thin air. But those emotions do not define us, and we can learn to choose how we respond to them. In this workshop, we will cover the basic concepts of mental training for climbing. Whether you are experiencing fear of falling or failure, performance anxiety, or any other social discomfort, I hope to give you some tools to recognize it and inspiration to address it.
